Traditional Malay dance....

The above image shows two dancers of the KBN [Kompleks Budaya Negara] from the then Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Malaysia performing a traditional dance after the completion of a training session of new dancers. They were the instructors at the one-week course on Traditional Dance. It was held in the early eighties at the Youth Complex in Kuala Lumpur. I was then the Director of Development and Promotion of Culture at the Ministry and this is one of the extension project that was carried out to develop new talents in traditional dances. These two dancers and instructors are talented and could perform many traditional dances, some of which they  choreograph themselves. Both the dancers in this images at that time; Sally Yap and Sonny was in their early twenties. They with the others in the group of KBN dancers have performance at many special functions both in the country and overseas. I know both very well. I believe both of them are now in their late fifties or early s

The New CNY Moon...

I went out to give some cookies that daugher Lin had just baked, then looking at the sky saw this Crescent up above. It is the new moon of the Chinese New Year, this year 2018. I then went up to the house and took my camera and snap a few images of that Crescent. It was a beautiful sight against the dark evening sky. Above is the one that I had just snap at 8.39pm this Feb 1 9, 2018 using the Canon EOS M5 with the 200mm lens.  Have a nice day.

Of Photography with the EOS M ...

I thought for today I would just post these images that I took yesterday with the Canon EOS M5. Enjoy it folks as much as I had enjoyed taking that pictures.  Have a nice day.

The Crescent...

I love to take the image of the moon and from time to time when the opportunity arise I would go out of the house to take a few shots of it.  It the moon that I had watched from my childhood gazing at the heaven. It always fascinates me but then in those days it was not possible to own a camera and capture it, then watch it at our convenience at home. After I retired in the early nineties I decided to take photography as a hobby. From the humble film camera, I graduate to the digital era. Then got my first DSLR. It a bulky and heavy too. With the arrival of the Mirrorless camera which is smaller and much lighter I decided to get the latest camera from the Canon M series. Above is an image of the Crescent that I took this Saturday morning on February 10, 2018 using the Canon EOS M5 with an 200mm lens. Enjoy it folks much as I had enjoyed snapping it.  Have a nice day.

A New Cell Phone...

Last Sunday February 4, 2018 I bought a new cell phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime and now toying with it. It technology is much advanced than the one I had used before. Above is an image that I snap at random using the phone.  I just snap and posted it here. I did not even edit it. So, to me it a good camera from a cell phone. As seen in this image it does capture beautifully the scene of what I saw as I sat at the Serambi enjoying my tea this afternoon.  Have a nice day.  .

56 Anniversary......

Today February 3, 2018 is our 56 Wedding Anniversary. It has been a wonderful journey together. We got married at a young age. I was then 22 years and she just six months younger. We met in November 1961 and in the short period we fell in love and got married the next year on February 3, 1962. We were blessed with three kids. Now with 5 grandkids, a son in law and two grandsons in law. A great family indeed.  Have a nice day.

Full Moon on January 31, 2018....

It was once in 151 years happening; the full moon and the eclipse happening at same time. The date January 31,2018 around 6.30pm to 11pm. So, I waited for the day and time to come and planned to take a few shots of that historic event, but the sky was cloudy all-night long. It was not possible to see the moon, so I decided to forget about it and went to sleep. I woke up early and found the sky was clear with a gorgeous skyline and the moon was there glowing in the gray morning, up to the north west of the skyline. I then took my camera, the Canon EOS M5 with the 200mm lens and went out to the front of the house and took a few shots of the beautiful moon that greet the morning of February 1, 2018.  It was nice to see the moon in the early morning. As usual the feeling of the morning was good; I could smell the fresh air and felt good on this February morning.  Here are some images that I took that morning. Enjoy it folks much as I had enjoyed snapping it.  Have a nice da
