Today is the 13th day of Syawal and I believe most of us have got over the Rendang and Ketupat overdosed and now back to square one of enjoying our regular meals before the ritual of the Hari Raya Open House starts this weekend. Yesterday being a Sunday we went out and had lunch at Madam Kwan in KLCC. It was indeed one sumptuous meal we have had since after Ramadan. With the Hari Raya Open House everywhere the roads would be jammed with cars of all made, parked in the neighbourhood like an outlets of secondhand car dealers. Then everyone would be overdosed again before the country is back to normal come July!  That folks is the lifestyle of Malaysian; Makan, Makan and Makan! Beautiful indeed!  Have a nice day.

T oday I managed to take a shot of the Ramadan Moon. On the left is the image of the moon on the 5th day of .Ramadan taken at 6.30 pm from my home in Ampang Jaya on the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur. Ramadan begin on May 5, 2019 this year and Muslim all  over the world start fasting during the day. It now past 5.35pm on the first day of this year Ramadan. The rains arrived early in the morning thus add to the freshness to the greens around the house. I have always love the rain and felt real good. In our culture the rain is a sign of Rahmat. Alhamdulillah. Nenek was busy all morning getting the Juadah done for today's Iftar or Buka Puasa. Hopefully all in the family who are in the country would be in our home this evening to Buka Puasa together. A few years ago, I went for a visit to Pekan, the royal town of Pahang. While there I saw the oldest mosque there, the Sultan Abdullah Mosque was left in ruin. It was a beautiful mosque built by the British colonial authority in 1929. It was the first and the oldest constructed in the Moorish architecture as most great mosque were built during that era. I was sad seeing that beautiful mosque left to rot. I then wrote to the Pahang state authority to do whatever necessary to preserve that historic mosque; a piece of history of the state of Pahang. I soon forgot about it and on my recent visit I saw that they have renovated the old mosque and turn it into a museum and at the same time retained the name of the mosque. It is now call the Museum Masjid Sultan Abdullah. A month earlier on a visit to Pekan I saw the mosque had been renovated but did not have the time to visit it; I was concentrating on another museum the Museum Sultan Abu Bakar nearby. We are now at the beginning of Ramadan. It is a spiritual journey that Muslim all over the world take during the month of Ramadan of the Islamic calendar. During this whole month Muslim would fast during the day and break the fast at Sunset. That moment is call Iftar or Buka Puasa in Malay. Iftar [the breaking of the fast] is done at one's house or at the local mosque. Where families members live nearby like ours the whole families would Buka Puasa at our house. Remember after fasting for the whole day everyone is not in the mood to go out, thus the buffets at the hotel is out of question. So, the best place is at one's house where the atmosphere is relaxing. We really need a relaxing atmosphere to buka puasa and there should be no rush in doing it. The ritual is always the same; when the Azan is heard we break the fast by taking some hot or cold sweet drink and Dates. Then go and perform the Maghrib prayer.
