Respecting the Plants...

We all need energy to survive on planet earth and that energy come from the Sun. The only specie that could convert the sun's energy into foods is the Plant. Without the plant all other species could not survived on this planet. And of course it the greens which produce the oxygen that is vital to our survival. Our specie now takes all kind of meats other that vegetable to get the sun's energy. By taking meat mean that we get the energy from a second-hand source. Remember the animals first have to eat the plants in order to get the energy from sun. It is ridiculous for our specie to go to the third party to get our energy when we could easily get it from the second party, the plants. We can get all the nutrition we need to live a healthy life if we just consume vegetable. I am trying to do just that slowly, one step a time. Now I consume vegetable and seafood with very little meats.. The family now take mostly white meats and vegetable and hope in due course we could do a...

Of Pollution...

I am back in Kuantan for a short break from the city life. Kuantan a small town on the east-coast of Malaya is my hometown. I grew up here and spend my childhood and my youth here. So, there are lots and lots of memories. In a way coming back here is sort of reliving those memories. I shall write some of it here. In the forties in the kampong where I grew up there was no air or water pollution. The well water was clean, and air was so refreshing. The word pollution did not exist at that time and no one talk about pollution. Now that with all the talk about pollution I realised that there was also no sound pollution as well at that time. The reason I am talking about noise pollution is that when we were living in the kampong in Kuantan we could hear every noise of the wild, the crickets, the frogs, the birds and everything else that makes sound. Since there were hardly any cars or buses, lorry or air plane flying by or any factories that create noise there was no noise polluti...

Twinkle Villa Janda Baik...

A few months ago, I surfed the net trying to find an outback resort in the jungle of Janda Baik, an enclave of the east side of the main range of Malaya, for a short retreat with the family. In Malay the main range is call the Banjaran Titiwangsa. Most of the forest in the main range of Malaya are some 160 million years old since it was not touch by the ice age. In the search I stumble upon the Twinkle Villa and decided to explore more from the resort website. It looks interesting with a concept of a private villa where the guests are limited in numbers. Since this is something new I then told my daughter Lin to check and maybe one of these days we could just go there. She did her homework and then make a booking to get the whole family there on the weekend that she is free. As usual with a three-generation family it difficult to get everyone along in one go. In the end she books a villa that could accommodate six and was allotted the Villa Resak. All the villas are names after ...

Camping at Teluk Tongkang, Kuantan....

When I was in school camping and hiking was of how we kid spend our recreation especially on weekend and during school holiday.  Kuantan been near the sea have many places to go hiking and camping. One of the camping site that is nearby is at Teluk Cempedak.  On my recent visit to Kuantan I found that they have turn an enclave on the left side of Teluk Cempedak as a Camping site. The enclave is now call Teluk Tongkang. I made a visit to the place and found it an ideal site to camp and enjoy the outdoor beside the sea.  For a small fee anyone can camp there. For the convenience of the campers the authority of the place provides clean water and Washroom for those campers as well to the public would just make a day visit.  On my visit there recently, I had the opportunity to meet the Warden of the place. He welcomes everyone to the place and enjoy camping. Other than providing tents for sleeping the organizer also provides meals and BBQ for the cam...

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun make...

Another day...

Woke up to a wet morning. It rain last night and I love the rain. It’s nostalgic and it brought back the memories of my childhood days growing up in Kuantan, a pristine coastal town on the east coast of Malaya. It always rain there and at time it rains cat and dog all days long. At the end of the years the North East Monsoon would bash the east coast state with rain for months. Bringing flood and kept the atmosphere cool. In those days even the coconut oil would solidified. That how cold it was then but now it no longer so.  To us kids it was fun and we would bathe in the rain enjoy the shower care less of the world around us. Enjoying all the time.  This morning after the rain had stop I did some gardening at the back of the house; planting a few Egg plants seedling into a bigger pots so that it would grow better. Living in the city where we do not have space all the planting are done in pots. Gardening is a passion of mine so we have two garden, one at the back of ...

That Squirrel; Jatoq!...

S ome years ago we took in a sick baby Squirrel that had fallen from a tree and nursed it to a healthy baby. It then grow bigger by days and became tame and friendly. We name it Jatoq a Malay words which mean Fall. As it grow bigger we soon found that we could no longer let it live at our little garden in front of our patio. Afraid that it may be caught by other bigger animals we decided to move it to a bigger compound at our daughter's house nearby. We were sad to part with it but because of its safety we had to move it to a safer area. It took to the new surrounding well and start running around but in evening would come back to its cage. As days goes by it did not return. We all felt very sad since we got somewhat emotionally attached to it but eventually we got to accept that it for its safety that we let it go and continue to live in its own habitat and not caged. A friends told us that animals often remember and it or its offspring would eventually retur...
