Teluk Cempedak, Kuantan...

This image of the beach was taken a few years ago when I visit my home town Kuantan. I call it my beach since when I was a kid I often go there on the weekend and at time camp overnight with friends. It was there that I learn to swim. So whenever I am in Kuantan I would always takes the time to visit this beach. It still looks and feels the same as it was when It was my playground when I was a kids in the forties. Have a nice day.

Here's my second attemp at posting a comment. The first one disappeared into thin air!

Anyway, Teluk Cempedak was one of my first memories upon arrival in Malaysia in July 1975 as a young, naive Peace Corps Volunteer trainee. I was in a training group whose site was a rented house near the Rumah Rehat Kerajaan Tambahan, which in turn was situated just over the hill from Teluk Cempedak. During the ten weeks of training, we learned Bahasa Malaysia, how tie a sarong, how to eat with our right hands, Malaysian manners and customs, and other skills essential to living and working in Malaysia. And when we couldn't take it any more, we'd ride our bicycles after work, up and down the hill, to Teluk Cempedak to relax. So Teluk Cempedak beach was a very important part of my early Malaysia experience! Thank you for the memories, Pak Idrus!

Howard, Thanks Howard for the visit and sharing your thoughts on this posting. Well like you Teluk Cempedak is special to me. From the time I could remember as a Boy Scout we would track through jungles infested with monkey, Large land Lizard and others animal to get to Teluk Cempedak. At that time it was still in pristine condition with no buildings, road or other inhabitants expects for the animals. The river on the left facing the sea was running with clear water and it was there we would get drinking water whenever we camp at the beach. All throughout my growing up period in the forties and the fifties Teluk Cempedak was my playground and there is where I felt in love with the sea; the smell and the sound of wave bashing the beach and the amazing view of the rising Sun every morning. So until these days I still call it my beach. Have a nice day.

Pak Zawi thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. Well it is true it now longer that safe like in those days but I believe it would be al right if we camp at a safer beach that is under the supervision of the local council.

Halwa Maskat...

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
