Just Rambling 1/18 ....

On housing for the rakyat [people] Just build living spaces without the frills and not high rise condo. The price should be below RM100 thousands. Or build and rent to the rakyat.

At home. Last week the switch for the shower at one of the bathroom stop working thus no warm shower lah. I call the handyman to come and fixed it. He came and on looking at it say he cannot do it as that kind of switch is no longer available. Since he is around I ask him to change another socket at the kitchen that need replacement. He got it it done and now could be use. I then call another handyman and today he came. On looking say it difficult but would try to replace it. After working at it he say it could only be done if the two adjacent switches for the lamp inside the washroom be change as well because the shower switch is part of the set. Well I told him to get it done. Now it OK and there is warm shower for this bathroom. Well instead of just replacing just one switch, four of it had to be replaced. I think these switches conspire lah

On the rakyat disposable income. I think Public transport in the cities should be made free. It would make the rakyat move around to work or to the mall easy and would cut the family living cost, as well reduce the numbers of cars on the roads. Folks would not have to own cars thus would have more disposable income for the family. Think about it folks. My 2 cents!

The 14th General Election. Malaysian you earned the Merdeka feeling of exuberance on the evening of May 9, 2018 just like my generation felt at the stroke of miOdnight on August 31, 1957. Merdeka!

The Morning after the Election. This morning a youth ask me is this how Pakcik felt when we got our independence. He said that his friends and him, among themselves was saying... macam ni ke ibubapa kita rasa semasa mecapai kemerdekaan! I was surprised and told him that was how I felt. He said that they had felt that special feelings too.

Have a nice day.

The Flags in Colonial Malaya...

In this posting I want to talk about Flags. I was born in 1939 and grew up during the Japanese occupation of Malaya from 1941 to 1945. So the first flag I saw was the Japanese flag, the white flag with the red circle in the centre. With the return of the British authority the Union Jack was again flown everywhere. With the defeat of the Japanese and the return of the British authority in Malaya the school was reopened. Except for the Japanese school all other schools was closed during the Japanese occupation. In January 1946 I start schooling. I remember my father took me to Sekolah Melayu Teruntun at Jalan Gambut in Kuantan. From the shop-house at Wall Street [now Jalan Mahkota] where we live we walk across the Padang, then follow the path across the grassland behind the Kuantan District Office to the school. The school is across the road with a few Pokok Kelapa Bali planted in front near the roadside. Kelapa Bali is what the Oil Palm is now known. It was at the school tha...
