From the Virtual to the Physical world...

With the New Media we get to makes friends in the virtual world. It could be done through Twitter or Facebook. Before this we only get to meet new friends at function or when introduced by friends or relatives but now it a different story altogether. On Facebook we can makes friends just by looking for friends on stranger's Facebook Tim eline or strangers from other FB Account can just add us as their friends by just clicking the Add Friends application on the Timeline. If we want to be friends we just accept or if not just delete. It is as easy as that. From then onward we just continue our friendship by reading friend's posting and from time to post comments on their wall. As we go on we could chat on one to one using the Messenger application on FB. Eventually the friendships became close just like in the physical world. The only different is that we do not meet in person like in the real world. We only communicate in cyberspace. Then things...

Of Guardian Angel; daughters of late friends....

They say things happened for a reason and I do believe so. Let me relate here two recent happening which I believe is the way our guardian's angel works. First I saw a comment in  Taib Wahab 's Facebook posting where he highlighted the demise three years ago of a close friend Mohamed Ibrahim which we fondly address as Mat Bra. It happened that Mat Bra was one of my closest friend when we were attached to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports since the early seventies. Through this posting I got connected with  Mar Ilyani Mohamed  the yo ungest daughter of Mat Bra. The second happening was a young woman the daughter of a family, a neighbour in Cendering where we live when working in Terengganu. She saw a FB posting of a photo of me and spouse having dinner with my nephew's  Hyree Ibrahim Kutty , her uni colleague. She  Julaillah Mohd Sarif  put two and two together and contacted me on FB. In the conversation I soon found out that both her parents h...

Of Tam the Cat and her Gift...

A few days ago; early in the morning I notice Tam the mother cat squatting on the window sill. On seeing me she made a small noise. I somehow knew that she wanted something so I went to the front door and open the grill. As I walk to the door she jump down and met me in front of the door. She move closer to me and brought my attention to a dead mouse lying on the floor nearby. She sat near the dead mouse and look at me. I then look at her and petted her back. she looks pleased. I knew at that  instance that the dead mouse is a gift for me. Sort of thanking me for always feeding her and her son Kenat. I quip to her thanking her for the gift and then she happily left. I then went into the house and told Asmah about it. Well this is not the first time our cats did this. It happened before probably they knew I no longer hunt for food thus that dead mouse is for dinner! ( did not want to post the image of that dead mouse) Well that is an episode of the story of my life. It always made ...

Getting around in the Golden Age...

It another Friday folk and almost the end of March 2018. Tomorrow is another weekend. It looks time moved so fast nowadays. Hardly we knew it already another month. Next week would be the last week of March 2018. This Sunday I would be meeting for the first time two of my Facebook friends. We planned to meet at 12pm at KL Sentral. Well as I had always say strangers are friends we have yet to meet. We have been friends in the virtual world and God willing we would be friends in the physical world as well. At my age I had to find an easy place to meet friend, as well for friends of my age group to meet too. Since I do not drive into the city anymore I found the KL Sentral is the best place to meet as one could get there by trains like the LRT, MRT, Commuter and of course by taxi or by Grab or Uber. I would be taking Grab there as that is the easier way to get straight to KL Sentral. Another choice for me is to drive my car to KLCC which is just five minutes away from my home, park t...

Of Tourism and Cherating....

Being a Kuantanite I have been to Cherating many times and of course during my childhood and my youth Cherating have been our camping place. We would hike from the Kuantan town and camp there on the weekend; enjoying ourselves oblivious of the world.  Cherating today in no longer a quiet place like before, it is sort of a tourists’ destination, a destination like Bali with all the potential of becoming one. Well, with proper planning it could be just as great a destination to enjoy the sea. It not that far away from Kuala Lumpur, it just a three or four house leisure drive or an hour flight and you are there facing kilometers and kilometers of open beaches facing the vast South China Sea. And folks a very clean beach all the years round. It been kept clean by the bashing of the waves from the open sea.  There are many kinds of accommodation there that would suit everyone pocket; from the cheapest Kampong house living to the various type of chalets, to the most...

A case of the Bad and Good...

This is a true story. It happens just a few days ago in KL; at the traffic light when the light was Red. The cars stop and was waiting for the light to turn Green. In this story I mentioned only three cars; Car A, Car B and Car C, each behind one another. Car A and B driven by women drivers while Car C by a man. Suddenly two guys on a motorcycle smashed the window of the left side of Car B and took the handbag from the left seat. The driver of Car B panic and try to move on b ut the traffic light was still Red; she hit the back of Car A. In the commotion the snatch thief drops the bag and fled. At that moment in time the traffic light turns Green and the cars move on. Car C saw the handbag on the road and took it. Car A move on and only stop at a safe place. In the meantime, Car B Follow Car A and stop as well. Car C also follow and stop to handover the Handbag to the driver of Car B. They then call the Police who arrive in mere minutes and then made a report. The Police advice fo...

Meeting a Stranger.....

I was at KL Sentral this morning and found there are so much changes there. That mean I have not explore it for some times in the past years. I went to meet a friend and after that explore the place to get more information of the train services especially the ETS [Electric Train Service]. I have travel the ETS up to Ipoh when it first started and found it fast and comfortable to travel between cities. I may do it again in the near future. As usual that place was thronged with folks on the move.  It all start when a FB friend Wan Izzuddin posted in his wall that he would be coming to KL after a trip to Bangkok. Since I have not met him in person I thought this would be an opportunity to meet and get to know each other. I then send a note on Messenger of FB asking whether he would like to meet. I got a reply that he would, that after he arrived back in Kuala lumpur he would take the train from the Airport to KL Sentral, the country's largest transport hub. I t...

Hari Raya 2017...

For this year we just had a small Hari Raya Open house and we did it on the third day of Hari Raya which fall on June 27, 2017. We just invited a selected few of relatives and friends. We had expected around forty or so would come and celebrate the Raya with us. At just after noon on that beautiful day folks start arriving in groups and individually.  The first to arrive were the new extended family from the newly wed granddaughter of ours; the eldest granddaughter who got married in July last year. It was nice of them to come and as usual the house soon was beaming with activities. They then sat down to enjoy the Raya spreads that we had prepared.  Then after they left another extended family, this time a group from the family of our second granddaughter who got married early this year arrived. It was a large group and it does make us happy to get to meet them. They too sat down to enjoy the spread that we had prepared.  As the day goes buy more and more frie...

The Neighborhood...

I always take a walk in the afternoon around the neighborhood just to keep me fit. It just a walk and at time I would stop at a friend's house and chat on the roadside or in the house. After a while I would continue my walk. Then would sit a while on the bench at the park nearby before going home. One day while taking a walk around the neighborhood I met a friend Ramlee who always ride a bike. He stops by me on the roadside and we chat. He told me that he just heard that Cikgu Razak of Jalan 2 had passed away. I was shock since the last time I met him was at the Friday Prayer, he looks cheerful. Then he says another of our friend Taib of Jalan 4 is in hospital and another a Dato who at one time head a bank has totally lost his memory. The last time I met the Dato was at a Supermarket nearby. He looks sick with his dear wife holding his hand. He could not really remember me. I wished him well. Some time later at KLCC I met a friend Lokman whose wife  died a year ago.  Over co...

Ikan Kembong Goreng Berlada...

A few days ago my spouse had this done; one of my favorite way of enjoying the Kembong fish. Fried crisps with chili sauce. The blended dry chili and anions etc. had to be fried into a thick paste and only then would the fish, which had already been deep-fried be added to it. Otherwise it would not taste as good. She always did it perfect to my liking. To me personally the Ikan Kembong Goreng Belada always bring back memories of my childhood in Kuantan. I grew up in a restaurant which is also a place where we live, thus we always eat foods cook for the public consumption and it the same every day. To get to eat something different we kids had to go to our mother's home and enjoy her cooking and that is not often. One such fish that I had always enjoyed at my mother's house is the Ikan Kembong Goreng Belada, like in the image above. At the restaurant, it does not taste the same perhaps because mom cooking always has that special ingredient that is call love. They say the r...

So how do I begin; so as not to lose my train of thoughts I am writing it here as I think. To me it is an interesting story that touches our lives as we walk the path on our journey of life. Hot Air Balloon Festa 2016 Putrajaya...

It was a beautiful Sunday  on March 13, 2016. Our daughter Lin had planned to take us to see the Hot Air Balloon festival at Putrajaya, an annual event which have been  going on for many years there.  This year it just started. So early  in the morning at around 7.30am we left the house with her driving the Honda Accord heading to the festival site in Putrajaya, the national capital. My spouse took the front seat while I sat at the  back seat of the Honda Accord like most bosses does. It was nice to be able to just sit there and enjoy the ride. This is the first time I did not drive to Putrajaya. After driving for about half an hour we arrived at Precinct 2 where the Hot Air Balloon festival is held. The whole area was already crowded with folks who had arrived as early as six in the morning, to be there to get closer to the balloons or enjoy a short experience on the balloon. The whole festival site was a colorful festive scene indeed. The above picture I to...

Beautiful People Beautiful Mind...

Thursday the twentieth of August was a beautiful day. After an early lunch I decided to go to the KLCC just to while my time there. It a mall that I love to go and enjoy my time in the atmosphere of the first world. Been there is just like been in any mall in the first world; be it in New York or Boston or London. I have been to the malls in those major cities and found that the mall at the KLCC is just like what one get at the malls there. So whiling the time there is a refreshing moment indeed. To me after living in the vicinity of the city of Kuala Lumpur for more than forty years the mall is part of my living culture and I am enjoying it. As usual I drove the Honda to the parking lot at the basement of KLCC, took the lift to the concourse area and make my way to the nearest shopping outlet there.  It was just before lunch time and the mall is already throng with folks enjoying their day. I browse through the M & S outlet and did not find anything I l...
