Of Using Kindle...

Years back my youngest daughter Lin who was then studying in the US gave me an Amazon Kindle. It an eBook where one could read books like reading a real Paperback book. Unlike reading on the iPad or a Smartphone screen the surface of the Kindle is exactly like that of the white  page of a book. It does not shine or reflect thus made reading just like reading an ordinary paper page. Books are downloaded from the internet using the WiFi. There are thousands of books that could be download anytime of the days. Some are free and some one had to pay for it by Credit card. Most books are cheaper than the Paper books. It takes just 60 seconds to download a novel. Since using the Kindle I have downloaded many books, most of it are free books. The weight of a Kindle is just like that of a paperback novel but it could contain many books in just one book size Kindle. Thus if one is on the go it worth having a Kindle and just carry it along. So if you are like me an avid reader it worth to ow...

The Social Media and me...

A week ago I decided not to do any posting on Facebook since I thoughts that FB is actually beginning to waste my time and energy. Before that I  have totally stopped using Twitter and Instagram. It has the goodness but once you are hooked then I think one have to take stock of what's good and what's not. So far after more than a week I have survived without FB and I am happy with it. I want to be in control of my personal space and no one or institutions are going to take that away from me. At this age I felt that I should be in control of what I want to do and enjoy doing it. Before FB most of us blog and enjoy writing and sharing our thoughts among bloggers and because of FB most have left blogging but not me. I still blog at least once a week and happy with it. I felt the Social Media has the good in it but one should be in control. These media to me are  sort of a cultural subversion to the society of the world by indirectly trying to introduce new Western norms and va...

From Analog to Digital TV...

We have a small Flat TV hanging on the wall at the kitchen. It has been a permanent feature in the kitchen. The TV is on all the times when my spouse is in the kitchen, sort of a 'kawan' to her while she is there doing the cooking. As usual this morning October 1,2019 she switch on the TV there but there was no programs displayed on any channels except a notice saying that it now need sort of a decoder or a VHF aerial to be able to function as usual. There has been warning from the relevant authority about the change from Analog to Digital but I thought that TV could just pick up the signal as usual since its already connected to a VHF aerial. This TV is on its own and not connected like the other two TVs in the house that use Astro decoder. It looks like I had to get the decoder or a new TV for the Kitchen. So this morning I took an e-hailing taxi to Low Yat Plaza in the city, a mall that got everything on computer and related products. On arrival at the mall I had breakfas...

Honda Accord Airbags...

Last years Honda Malaysia recall all Honda Accord to replaced the faulty Airbags. I got a letter from Honda Malaysia to make arrangement to get the faulty Airbags replaced. After making the arrangement to get it done within weeks of getting the letter, I got both the Airbags for the front seat replaced at one of the Honda Workshop in Ulu Kelang. Then two weeks ago Honda Malaysia send me a registered letter saying they wanted to replaced the Airbag on the driver side of my Honda Accord again. Thus for my car this is the second time the Airbag of the driver side need be replaced. And last Saturday August 24, 2019 instead of asking the car to be taken for replacement of the faulty Airbag to the Workshop Honda Malaysia say that  their service people would come over to the house instead to replaced the faulty Airbag.. On the afternoon of that Saturday their people came over to the house and got it replaced. It was done is just five minu...

The E-hailing service...

E-hailing is now my mode of transport going into the city. Mostly to and fro my home in Ampang Jaya to KLCC or Nu Sentral/KL Sentral, both my favourites Lepak place. E-hailing is God send, you just touch the apps on your smartphone and it done. I usually sit on the front seat where I get to chat with the Driver. Unlike the traditional taxi E-hailing drivers are a class of its own. They may be Engineers or of other professions thus chatting with most of them are interesting. Another aspect they are more polite and it does made the ride comfortable. Those who works full-time does made good money and the part- timers are mostly just want an extra buck and enjoy talking to people. Today on the way back the young driver told me he is from Ipoh and he came to Kuala Lumpur to make money to maintains his family. He goes back to Ipoh to be with his family once a week. While here to saved money he just sleep in his car at a safe place and use the public washroom to bathe and change clothin...

Air Hand Dryer...

I believe this air hand dryer in the toilet is not hygienic to use. When you use it to dry your hands everything is blown away and stuck in there including whatever the residue, dirty dirt. Many dirty and wet hands goes in there including someone who just came out of the toilet and use! Yek! Anyone who use after that might get the residue of past and previous users to their hands and that to me is Najis. I have completely stop using it... My two cents. Have a nice day.

The Planet! ...

I was out looking for the crescent moon this morning [ February 12, 2019] and it was not in sight but I saw this burst of light on the eastern sky. I snap it and sharing it here. Perhaps it Mars as seen from earth on Tuesday‎, ‎February‎ ‎12‎, ‎2019 7:05 AM - 1/25 sec. f/6.3 200mm - ISO 6400 using the EOS M5.  Have a nice day.

From the Virtual to the Physical world...

With the New Media we get to makes friends in the virtual world. It could be done through Twitter or Facebook. Before this we only get to meet new friends at function or when introduced by friends or relatives but now it a different story altogether. On Facebook we can makes friends just by looking for friends on stranger's Facebook Tim eline or strangers from other FB Account can just add us as their friends by just clicking the Add Friends application on the Timeline. If we want to be friends we just accept or if not just delete. It is as easy as that. From then onward we just continue our friendship by reading friend's posting and from time to post comments on their wall. As we go on we could chat on one to one using the Messenger application on FB. Eventually the friendships became close just like in the physical world. The only different is that we do not meet in person like in the real world. We only communicate in cyberspace. Then things...

A New Cell Phone...

Last Sunday February 4, 2018 I bought a new cell phone, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5A Prime and now toying with it. It technology is much advanced than the one I had used before. Above is an image that I snap at random using the phone.  I just snap and posted it here. I did not even edit it. So, to me it a good camera from a cell phone. As seen in this image it does capture beautifully the scene of what I saw as I sat at the Serambi enjoying my tea this afternoon.  Have a nice day.  .

Online Shopping...

Online shopping is already a norm among young Malaysian, but I am not there yet. Our kids and grandkids have been buying goods Online and our house have become the official address for the delivery of such goods. That is because we are always at home, making it easy for the quick delivery of the good bought Online.  I was rather reluctant to buy things Online but seen that the service is good, and things bought are of quality and cheaper than at the stores I decided to join the Online revolution that has taken the country by storm. So last week I did my first purchase at Lazada and in less than a week, that was yesterday I received the good that I had ordered. I bought a watch and found it in good condition and I like what I had bought Online, which is way cheaper than the price sold at the store. Well folks with that I am now part of the cyber revolution especially so in the purchase of goods Online. A grandparent quantum leaped into a culture of today cyberworld, the buying...

Of Photography; the Moon....

In photography it the timing and opportunity. Yesterday morning I was out in front of the house looking for Mei Me who had not return. While out there I saw the moon. I then went to take my camera, the new Canon EOS M5 and using a telephoto  lens took some picture of the moon. It happens that at that very moment a plane was passing by and the early bird were flying too. It was really nice to get some good shots in that early morning. I am still learning the way of good photography and happy with the result. I am sharing it here for all to see and enjoy.  Have a nice day folks.

Glorious Fountain at KLCC....

Last Saturday we went to KLCC for dinner. After dinner while the ladies went to shop I decides to do some photography of the evening there. Chance had it at that very moment the fountains at the pool of the KLCC was choreographed with sound and color. It was a really field-day to me to try my new  camera for the night scene. Been new to the latest technology of photography it was a learning process in trying to capture the best image using that camera. In the past I would use the heavy DSLR for this purpose. This evening the new EOS M10 a camera much smaller and lighter than the DSLR capturing images seem to be very easy indeed. Let the camera do everything with it builtin computer; than at the right moment just snap it. It is at this very moment that one have to understand the camera by feel and touch. Once that is done it became so easy. I took my time to take as many images as possible. I am sharing it here for all to enjoy much as I had enjoyed learning and photo...

Periwinkle .....

As usual with a new camera one have to start learning of how to use it. This new Mirrorless Camera; the Canon EOS M10 is using the latest  technology in the world of photography. I  am starting to  have a hang of it. For the last few days I have been photographing flowers in the Little Garden. This is the image of the Periwinkle flower that is in the garden. I am sharing it here for all to see the result of my new adventure in  field of digital photography using the Mirrorless camera.  Have a nice day.

The Mirrorless Camera...

Yesterday April 24 I decided to move forward in photography, a hobby of mind. I invested on the latest camera; the Mirrorless Camera. Mirrorless camera with interchange lens is actually the DSLR that have been reduced in size by removing the mirror in the DSLR. Without the mirrors that reflect the images the new SLR has been reduced in size and not bulky like the DSLR. It at the same time is much lighter than the DSLR. It could easily replaced the DSLR for a real adventure into real  photography. After looking and reviewing all the Mirrorless cameras on the market I decided to purchased the Canon EOS M10. Above is my first attempt taking a closeup of object using the camera. It does look great and I am learning the best way to get better images as I move on in the world of Mirrorless Camera.  Have a nice day.

In Coma-Spiritual Journey...

I thought and thought and thought whether I should share this rare moment in my life. It about my personal space that happens when I was in a Coma for a week after the surgery on August 26, 2015. After much deliberation with myself, God willing I am sharing it here. During the period I was in Coma I did not know anything of what happens to my physical body. Only my loved one and relatives who was at my bedside could tell what happens. A few months after I return to my home I managed to get some information from a relative who made constant contact by WhatsApp to my two daughters throughout the period I was in Coma. I learn later that I lost blood and had blood transfusion, my lung did not function and they had to use a Respirator to keep me breathing, they had  to pump  me  with various drugs and of  course keep the liquid in my body by the drips; despite that I  lost 15 kilos in that one week. Thus I could understand how frantic the si...

Hot Air Balloon Festa 2016 Putrajaya...

It was a beautiful Sunday  on March 13, 2016. Our daughter Lin had planned to take us to see the Hot Air Balloon festival at Putrajaya, an annual event which have been  going on for many years there.  This year it just started. So early  in the morning at around 7.30am we left the house with her driving the Honda Accord heading to the festival site in Putrajaya, the national capital. My spouse took the front seat while I sat at the  back seat of the Honda Accord like most bosses does. It was nice to be able to just sit there and enjoy the ride. This is the first time I did not drive to Putrajaya. After driving for about half an hour we arrived at Precinct 2 where the Hot Air Balloon festival is held. The whole area was already crowded with folks who had arrived as early as six in the morning, to be there to get closer to the balloons or enjoy a short experience on the balloon. The whole festival site was a colorful festive scene indeed. The above picture I to...

Food cook using the Microwave Oven...

I believe all of us love to enjoy our food. When we see the foods it is our eyes that taste it first follow by our nose. Only then that we taste it by our mouth. If the food we are eating taste good in our mouth we wound continue to eat it and enjoy it. Above is a bowl of freshly steamed fish that is done using the microwave oven. From our experience it is much easier to steam fish in the microwave oven than the conventional way using the steamer. There are lots of work when one use the steamer; from boiling the water to create the steam using multilayer steamer pots require lots of works. It is much simpler to use the Microwave oven. When using the microwave oven one just had to use a container that is microwave safe. Put the fish in the container with whatever garnishing in it and cling-wrapped it tight. Then put it in the microwave oven and cook it for between 6 to 8 minutes [depend on the type of Microwave oven you are using]. The fish above was done in our microwave ov...
