A Love Story on a Vinyl...

During my youth in the sixties the only way to listen to songs and music was to buy a Vinyl and play in on the turntable. This is a Single given to me by my girl friend at that time. She was a Nurse working at the Kuantan Hospital who I came to know. She is not a local but came from Segamat in the state of Johor. On a visit in November 1960 to a record shop she bought this and give to me as a gift that I still kept till these days. I still play it on my Turntable from time to time and every times memories of those good days came flooding back. Sort of a sad and sweet memories of our friendship. We actually planned to get married but her parent had other plan and we parted when she went back to her hometown of Segamat. The last time I met her was in Segamat in 1967 when then I was working in Johor with my office in Keluang and I from time to time visit Segamat.. Well folks life is like that. Have a nice day.

The Vacuum of Power Malaya 1945....

During the Second World War the British Authority in Malaya was defeated by the Japanese Army in 1941, thus the Malay states in the Peninsular became an occupied territories of the Japanese Imperial Army. The Japanese Occupation only lasted till 1945 when the British Authority defeated the Japanese and return to continue their colonisation of the Malay states.  After the Japanese was defeated in 1945 and before the return of the British Administration back to Malaya there was a vacuum of power in the country for two weeks. During this time the MCP (Malayan Communist Party) decided to takeover the authority since they had the weapon. The local call this rebellion as the Bintang Tiga [three stars on their cap] and a frightening episode of their history.  Remember the MCP help the British Authority to fight the Japanese thus had weapons and they stashed it in the jungle  when the Japanese soldiers left; for future use. For two weeks it was mayhem and many people got killed.  What woul

The war and Flag....

I grew up watching this flag until the Japanese was defeated in 1945. All my senior went to Japanese school. I did not. I start schooling at a Malay School when the school was reopen after the war in 1946..  Before this during the war and during the British colonisation we would watch the Union Jack every morning and sing God save the King. There was no Malaya then; all the states in the Persekutuan Tanah Tanah Melayu have their own flags and state anthems. In the state of Pahang where I was born and goes to school there was already the Pahang state flag; the Black and White flag. It was only after the war and the Federation of Malaya was formed that we have a flag, the Jalur Gemilang with the eleven pointed star and the eleven white and red strips as seen in the Malaysian flag today where the pointed stars are now  fourteens and the strips are of the same numbers as well.  Anyway up until the declaration of Independence on August 31, 1957 we still raised the Union Jack and si

The Kuantan River...

I grew up in Kuantan, a small town on the east coast of Malaya. Thus the Kuantan River is part of my growing up culture. We live not that far away from the river at a shop-house at Wall Street, now known as Jalan Mahkota. From time to time my grandfather who live at Peramu on the other side of the river would take me to his kampong house by boat. It was really exciting to sit on the small boat been paddle across the river. We were never allows to play near the river since it is not safe as there are crocodiles there. As such no one would swim even near the riverbank. Anyway I love to walk along the bank and enjoy the beautiful scene of mangrove swamp on the other sides.  Above is the scene of the river as seen today.  Have a nice day.

Air Hand Dryer...

I believe this air hand dryer in the toilet is not hygienic to use. When you use it to dry your hands everything is blown away and stuck in there including whatever the residue, dirty dirt. Many dirty and wet hands goes in there including someone who just came out of the toilet and use! Yek! Anyone who use after that might get the residue of past and previous users to their hands and that to me is Najis. I have completely stop using it... My two cents. Have a nice day.

Snippet from FaceBook # 7...

I plan to lepak at KLCC this morning but had to postpone it to tomorrow. Anyway I did went to KLCC this morning but just to get some grocery that my spouse need urgently. After doing the purchases I drive the Honda back into Ahlek to get home the normal way but soon found out that the road back to Ampang is closed and traffics were diverted to the Jalan Sultan Ismail. I follow and turn left into Jalan Ampang. I thoughts it would be just an easy drive back to Ampang but I was  wrong, the road in front of KLCC was closed (I later found out that the KLCC is the starting point of De Tour Langkawi cycle race which start this morning). Traffic were diverted to JalanYap Kwan Seng. I just follow and exit out into Jalan Tun Razak. I missed the exit to reconnect with Ahlek so I then took Jalan Semarak, got into Datuk Keramat and back again into Jalan Ampang. Then drive into a familiar route home. Today I found that I was able to drive into the city without problems, bearing in mind that I have n

Snippet from Facebook # 6....

1- I love to move around and visit places just for the hang of it or to do photography but now that I am not able to drive far I had to depend on the public transport and my kids. As we all are aware the kids have their own life to live and it not fair to ask them for help all the times. So using the public transport is my best choice. Over the months I have to reset my mindset to adept to the new culture of moving around beyond my home base. I believe now I am all set to go on an adventure using the public transport like the plane, train. bus, taxi to move from A to B to C and so on. Just like trying to learn to walk again eh! Life in the golden years! 2- You call a friend on their cellphone phone and the respond was Siapa ini or Who is this. That mean that person did not registered your number in their phone. It shows your friendship is not treasured. So I immediately deleted the contact. Habis cerita. Have a nice day

The Putrajaya Wetlands...

I  no longer could drive out of the vicinity of my home in Ampang Jaya. The furthest is the KLCC and the GE mall at Jalan Ampang. Of course I always drive to the Ampang Point which is just two kilometres away where I get my grocery. As to continue moving around I am finding new way to travel outside my comfort zone. So last Saturday with the help of the former driver of my daughter who now works somewhere else I managed to get him to be my part-time driver. He has agreed to do that only on Saturday and Sunday; both are his off day from his official work as driver. So last Saturday with him driving I manage to get to Putrajaya, first to watch the Hot Air Balloon Carnival and then move around that capital city to take more picture of buildings there. Then on the way back the driver took me to have a look at another area of the Putrajaya Wetlands. There I saw for the first time an area especially develop for water birds to feed and move around on that part of the lake. It was indeed
