The Vacuum of Power Malaya 1945....

During the Second World War the British Authority in Malaya was defeated by the Japanese Army in 1941, thus the Malay states in the Peninsular became an occupied territories of the Japanese Imperial Army. The Japanese Occupation only lasted till 1945 when the British Authority defeated the Japanese and return to continue their colonisation of the Malay states.

After the Japanese was defeated in 1945 and before the return of the British Administration back to Malaya there was a vacuum of power in the country for two weeks. During this time the MCP (Malayan Communist Party) decided to takeover the authority since they had the weapon. The local call this rebellion as the Bintang Tiga [three stars on their cap] and a frightening episode of their history.  Remember the MCP help the British Authority to fight the Japanese thus had weapons and they stashed it in the jungle  when the Japanese soldiers left; for future use. For two weeks it was mayhem and many people got killed.  What would have happened to Malaya had the British not returned! With the return of the BA, the MCP decided to return to the jungle and fought a guerrilla war which only end in 1960 after Malaya got her independence in 1957..My two cents on our history that not many knew!

Have a nice day.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made there by two of

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
