The Serambi [Patio]...

After I retired in 1990 I decided to do some renovation to my house in Ampang Jaya. It just a small house that I bought in 1974 which at that time is considered as very far away from the city centre of Kuala Lumpur. Only one road lead to this place in Ulu Kelang and that is the Ampang Road and the Ulu Kelang Road. To get there we take the road call Jalan Kolam Air Lama [Old Reservoir Road]. Now it is just five minutes away from the KLCC. I was happy to get that house and there our kids grows and now they too live in their own home in the vicinity as well. On the renovation works I wanted the house to be different with a touch of the Kampong [village] look thus I decided to do a Malay style patio or Serambi. For the major works I got a contractor who managed to translate my imagination into reality. Some of the woodwork I did it myself.  It is now my favourite place to sit down and while the times away. When friends comes a visiting they too seem to love to sit at the Serambi rather than in the sitting area of the house. At one corner of the patio is a garden that I call my Little Garden. I have a bird-feeder there and from time to time birds and squirrels as well other small animals come to feeds; it’s sort of an ecosystem by itself.  Above are some views of my Serambi.

Have a nice day.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made there by two of

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
