Of MCO and the Haircut.....

A blogger wrote that he just got a haircut. Ha ha! at least he got himself a haircut. It seem he got his son to cut his hair using a new hair trimming tool bought online. Barber shop has yet to be allows to operate during this MCO. The last time I got myself a haircut is about three months ago because of the MCO and my hair is getting longer by days. It no longer felt comfortable although I do sport long hair during the period youth of yesteryear but now I do really need a haircut. I  do hope the authority would allows for the haircut folks to start business so that I could get a decent hair do. With the unlikelihood of the MCO ceased and instead may be extended my spouse suggested that I should just go Botak [bald] and then let it grows as we move on. I may do just that but I have been thinking of an option. I can still get a good haircut when it start operating but by going to the Woman Hair Salon to get the cut. I have done that before and the woman do cut as good. The rea...

Hari Raya Aidil Fitri 2020...

Before I go on narrating about the Hari Raya let me regress a bit and talk about fasting during Ramadan. Fasting during the month of Ramadan is one of the Five Pillars of Islam. The other four are Shahadah, Zakat, Solat and the Haj. Except for doing the Haj [Do the Haj when one could afford it] these other pillars of Islam are mandatory. According to Islam we are all born as a Muslim, its our parents that change it after birth. So that is why we say when a non Muslim want to become a Muslim we say one revert to  Islam. To begin with, to be a Muslim one had only to say the Shahada, accept the Five Pillars of Islam and then conform with the norm and values of Islam. Remember we human is a Spiritual being so believing in a religion is to complete the whole. Without religion I do not believe one would be able to enjoy life to the fullest. After completing the fasting during the whole month of Ramadan it time to celebrate the victory of going through the ritual of fasting, not eating...

Selamat Hari Raya 2020...

Tomorrow May 23, 2020 would be the last day of fasting during this year Ramadan thus we would complete thirty days of fasting. Pending the sighting of the Moon we would be celebrating the Aidil Fitri or the Hari Raya this year on Sunday May 24, 2020. Because of the MCO  and Convid 19 folks are advice to celebrate the Hari Raya only at their home with a maximum attendance of only twenty. So let us make full use of the opportunity and enjoy this year Raya with the family in our home. Selamat Hari Raya to all those who visit this Blog.  Have a nice day.

Respecting the Plants...

We all need energy to survive on planet earth and that energy come from the Sun. The only specie that could convert the sun's energy into foods is the Plant. Without the plant all other species could not survived on this planet. And of course it the greens which produce the oxygen that is vital to our survival. Our specie now takes all kind of meats other that vegetable to get the sun's energy. By taking meat mean that we get the energy from a second-hand source. Remember the animals first have to eat the plants in order to get the energy from sun. It is ridiculous for our specie to go to the third party to get our energy when we could easily get it from the second party, the plants. We can get all the nutrition we need to live a healthy life if we just consume vegetable. I am trying to do just that slowly, one step a time. Now I consume vegetable and seafood with very little meats.. The family now take mostly white meats and vegetable and hope in due course we could do a...

My Little Garden...

I love gardening. It has been a passion of mine since I was a kid. So when I retired I decided to turn the front of my patio into a little garden of my own. It just a small one but it has everything that a garden should have. So as to create an ecosystem that would attract the little animals and insect to the garden I had grown some trees including a bamboo bush which turns a part of the garden into a little jungle. To attract birds and small animals like squirrel and civet cat I hang a tray of food so that it would come from time to time to eat. The first thing in the morning I would put an assorted of foods like banana, apples and bread in the tray. Now I could watch the birds and the squirrels come and go to enjoy its meals. At time civet cat would come too. Now it is normal to see these birds and small animals come and go throughout the days to enjoy the food there oblivious of us watching it.  Have a nice day.

1946, Umno and I...

On May 11, 2020 Umno or the United Malay National Organisation, one of the main political party in Malaysia celebrated its 74th Anniversary. Umno was formed in 1946 during the colonial era with an objective of gaining independence for Malaya. I was born in 1939 and saw the development of the country from day one.  There is a few coincident here between me and Umno. To begin with the year 1946. It was the year when all schools in Malaya was reopen after the war and it was in January 1946 that I start schooling at the Sekolah Melayu Teruntun in Kuantan. I was then seven years old and been a Malay we all start our schooling at a Malay school. It the best thing that happens to me because not many Malay at that time got the opportunity to go to school. Thanks for the vision of my father I am among the few that got to have a good education.  Then one day in May 1946 and I now believed it had to be the 11th of May 1946, the day Umno was formed, that my father took me with him t...

The 15th Day Ramadan Moon...

Alhamdullilah we have reached the fifteen day of fasting during the month of Ramadan this year. For the whole of Ramadan Muslim all over the world went on a spiritual journey by fasting for the whole month. I believe we all are enjoying the wisdom of fasting. Tonight after the Isya and the Tarawih prayers I went out to watch the sky and saw a full moon which is the 15th day of Ramadan this year. With my Canon EOS camera fitted with the 200 mm lens I snap a few shots of the full moon and above is the image of the moon on the evening of May 8, 2020 at 9.41 pm.  Majestic indeed.    Have a nice day.

Cycling from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur....

In those days scouting was the best youth organisation for us teenagers to learn leadership skill as well to enjoy the outdoors like hiking and camping. In scouting we learn many aspects of leadership and  of  how to survive during difficult times. In the days before telephone and the internet we kids would enjoy ourselves by going camping, hiking and swimming.. Most of the time during school holidays we would go for hiking and camping all over the places. Since Kuantan my hometown is beside the river and near the sea we have plenty of places all along the coastal area to go hiking and camping and of course swimming. During one school holiday in August in the fifties we still in our teens, a small group of us the Kuantan Boy scout group went on an adventure of a different kind by cycling from Kuantan to Kuala Lumpur, the capital of the country Malaya. It was during the August school holiday. It took us five days one way. The road from Maran to Temerloh was just completed but ...

The Moon of Ramadan...

Since February and the Covid 19 happening it has been raining in the afternoon and the sky is often cloudy and the moon could not be sighted. I have been trying to get a shot of the moon but so far to no avail but last evening May 3, 2020 while at the kitchen to clean some utensils I heard the phone ring. By the time I got to the phone it stop ringing and I missed the call. I look at the number on my cellphone and saw a number that I had not registered. To avoid span or unwanted call I seldom call back any number that had not been registered on my phone. But this time I thought that I should call back and it was answered by a familiar voice; it Mrs Chan the neighbour. She told me that this is her personal cellphone number. In the past we always communicate by the fixed line phone. Anyway she say she wanted to tell me that a Brunch cutter that she thought belong to me is left hanging near the telephone pole in front of her house  It may get lost if not taken back into the house. ...

Kuantan; Nostalgic...

Nostalgic indeed. Yes I am thinking of going back to my hometown of Kuantan. So as soon as the MCO is over I would head to Kuantan to be there and enjoy life by the sea especially at Teluk Cempedak,, the beach and the sea where I grew up in the forties and the fifties. Below are the scenes of the Teluk Cempedak beach in the early morning as I watch the sunrise. Magnificent indeed. [scenes taken a few months ago] Have a nice day.
