81st Birthday ...

Yesterday 17th August 2020 was my 81st birthday. I Was born on 17.8.1939 in Kuantan, in the state of Pahang. At that time Kuantan boast of having an international Port on the east coast of Malaya. Ships from China and Australia  ply this port. I grew up when the country was occupied by the Japanese that rule the country from 1941 to 1945.  In 1946 I starts schooling at the Malay school there. Kuantan been a coastal township is near to the pristine beaches thus I was expose to the sea at an early age. I soon felt in love with the sea and the nature surrounding in. Spend my childhood swimming and camping  near the beach of Teluk Cempedak was a norm. Soon going to the beach and enjoying the sea became an extension of myself. Till these days I would find the time to enjoy the sea. Alhamdulillah I have been blessed to be as healthy to enjoy life as it goes.

Have a nice day.

Mr Bojangles, thanks for the visit and sharing your thoughts on the subject of this posting. Appreciate it very much. Well I had never thought to be a sailor and instead wanted to ge an agriculturalist. I had actually booked a place in one of the ship that ply the Kuantan - Perth route but could not made it because I did not have the money to go and study agriculture at the college there. In 1958 after Form V I join the government service and work in the government for thirty two years when I went on an optional retirement in 1990.

Gave a nice day Sir.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made there by two of

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
