Ramadan 2019...

Today I managed to take a shot of the Ramadan Moon. On the left is the image of the moon on the 5th day of .Ramadan taken at 6.30 pm from my home in Ampang Jaya on the outskirt of Kuala Lumpur.

Ramadan begin on May 5, 2019 this year and Muslim all  over the world start fasting during the day. It now past 5.35pm on the first day of this year Ramadan. The rains arrived early in the morning thus add to the freshness to the greens around the house. I have always love the rain and felt real good. In our culture the rain is a sign of Rahmat. Alhamdulillah. Nenek was busy all morning getting the Juadah done for today's Iftar or Buka Puasa. Hopefully all in the family who are in the country would be in our home this evening to Buka Puasa together.

Alhamdulillah it almost at the end of the second day of fasting and Iftar is in 15 minutes time. Ha the beauty of Ramadan. The spiritual journey when billions of Muslim goes through every year come Ramadan the holy month of the Islamic calendar, when the Koran was first revealed to Prophet Mohammad PBUH.

Yesterday May 9, 2019 the Buka Puasa at Moyang's place is almost full house, includes the Cicit. What a wonderful feeling to have almost all the four generations at Iftar. BTW one grandson is in Seattle and one granndson in law in Penang. Alhamdulillah

In Malaysia every Masjid and Surau provides foods and drinks at iftar for whoever goes to perform their Magrib prayer there. As soon as the Azan is heard folks would immediately break their fast together with drink and dates. Then they wound perform the Magrib prayer. Once the prayer is done they would continue to enjoy the foods that are laid at the eating place. Follows with the Isyak prayer and Tarawih. In some places light refreshments are provides too after prayer. All expenses for the Iftar are sponsored by the ummah. At one time we would go everyday to the Darul Ehsan mosque nearby to break our fast.

Have a nice day.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made there by two of

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
