Scenes of Cherating, Kuantan...

Cherating is a sea resort north of Kuantan. It a resort similar like that at Bali and a very good place to spend a holiday with the family. At a certain time of the year one could even enjoy surfing on the roaring seas there. There are many type of accommodations like camping facilities, chalets and five stars hotel that cater for all at a reasonable price. It just a three and half hours drive away from Kuala Lumpur so it worth to get there for a few days trips to enjoy the sea as well the sea foods. Unlike Bali it not that crowded thus a good place to enjoy the peace and tranquility of a seaside resorts. About are some images of the place. Enjoy it folks.  Have a nice day.

Of Using Kindle...

Years back my youngest daughter Lin who was then studying in the US gave me an Amazon Kindle. It an eBook where one could read books like reading a real Paperback book. Unlike reading on the iPad or a Smartphone screen the surface of the Kindle is exactly like that of the white  page of a book. It does not shine or reflect thus made reading just like reading an ordinary paper page. Books are downloaded from the internet using the WiFi. There are thousands of books that could be download anytime of the days. Some are free and some one had to pay for it by Credit card. Most books are cheaper than the Paper books. It takes just 60 seconds to download a novel. Since using the Kindle I have downloaded many books, most of it are free books. The weight of a Kindle is just like that of a paperback novel but it could contain many books in just one book size Kindle. Thus if one is on the go it worth having a Kindle and just carry it along. So if you are like me an avid reader it worth to ow...

At the Wet Market.....

Today is the second day of Fasting during the month of Ramadan. This morning I got the driver to go to the Datuk Keramat Wet Market to get the Fish and Seafood as well Chicken and Meat. Normally I would go with him but because of the CMO only one person allows to be in the car  as been ordered by the government. Last week the Wet-market was closed because the Wholesale at Selayang was closed for cleaning, part of containing the spread of the Covid 19 virus. Today being a Saturday it was packed with folks trying to buy for the use during the Ramadan. He managed to get whatever I had written on the list except fresh meat. When he got home with the goods I had first to get rid of all plastic bags so as to avoid any containment or infected and put it in another containers before taking it to the kitchen for cleaning. It sort of a new normal during the period of Covid 19 CMO in the country. After cleaning I help my spouse to packed it in batches and put it all in t...

Alhamdulliah Ramadan or the Fasting month for Muslim this year start from April 24, 2020. Since the Muslim calendar starts after the Magrib prayer the first day of Ramadan just started after the Magrib prayer just now. As usual during Ramadan folks would do the Tarawih prayer after the Isya prayer at the mosque. This year because of the Covid 19 lock-down the Tarawih prayer is done at home. So with that the fasting month in Malaysia is now on. Folks do enjoy the one month of the spiritual journey during the month of Ramadan. May we all be blessed during the spiritual journey of Ramadan. . Have a nice day.

The Garlic...

Well, I believed everyone knows what the Garlic is. In the Malay culture it is call the Bawang Putih although it is not a Bawang [Onion]. Anyway it is always associated with the other onions like the Yellow big onion, the Purple one which is call the Bombay onion and the Shallot which we call the Bawang Kecil [small onion]. In the Asian cuisines/cooking all the onions are important ingredients of cooking of whatever dishes, from frying Vegetable to making a good Curry. As for the Garlic as in the image above it one ingredient that we cannot do without. Dishes would not taste the same without it. It also got medicinal property and often used in the making of traditional medicine. It is said to be also a nutrition for the soul as well, thus it does made good medicine to healed the sick. It some western culture it is believe to ward off evil spirits. So in whatever culture the Garlic indeed do have a special place in our lives. As for me the Ikan Singgang is not the same without the Ga...

Growing Veges at Home...

Well at  this trying time when everyone had to stay at home because of the Control Movement Order  or CMO folks can only go out to get grocery or by food. So with ingenuity some members of the family thought of the ideas of growing simple vegetable like the Bean Sprout or what we call here as Towgey and Mushroom at their homes.  Our youngest daughter who live at a Condo nearby decided to grow the Towgey while the second granddaughter who now work in Penang grows the Mushroom. It looks likes this Convid 19 lock-down did create changes in the way society live their lives when they cannot go out but had to stay at their home all the time to break the chain of the virus spreading. Images above are the process of growing the Beans Sprouts or Towgay at  home.  The image of the right is the Mushroom project by our second granddaughter who now live in Penang. And today we had Towgey dish [image on the left] for lunch from the one grown by our youngest daughter....

Covid 19..outbreak...

The outbreak of the virus Covid 19 starts in Wuhan, China some time in January 2020. The original source of this Virus outbreak is yet unknown. The Chinese authority took an unprecedented action by shutting down the movement of the city residents of some 11 millions. It a a complete lock-down with no one leaving and getting into the city. Immediately the Chinese authority act fast and professionally by mobilising all the experts to head to the city to help the already infested as well to stop the spread of the virus to the other part of  the country, as well to the other parts of the world. Soon the virus separate to the other parts of the world including to Malaysia. Since the middle of March 2020 the Malaysian government has introduced a Movement order or the Control Movement Order or CMO making it compulsory for the citizens to stay at home and not leave unless really necessary like getting foods or grocery. The Police and the Army was fully mobilised to enforced the CMO. The e...

The Hair Cut...

This morning I had a few things in mind, so after a light breakfast I drive the Honda to get a haircut, not that I had much hair on my head but just a ritual of sort to be just Me. I went in and sat on one of the chair. The usual barber was attending to the only customer next to me. Then a young chap came over coughing. Since he continues coughing I ask him to cover his mouth but he seem not to understand me. The elderly person nearby explain to him in Tamil while the young m an kept coughing. That means he did not understand Malay. It looks like he is another foreigner employed as barber. Since He continues coughing I decided not to have the haircut. That virus could put me into months of misery. I left and went next door to have a TT. l sat down but no one came to take my order so I decided to move out and drive to an aquarium at Jalan Ulu Kelang and bought a new pump for my Fish pond and some feeds for the fish. I then remember there is another Barbershop at the Naan corner. I stop...

Travelling in the Fifties, Kuantan - KL.....

It past 4pm on Sunday 8.2.20. As usual I am at the Serambi whiling the times away and these thoughts came to mind. During the colonial era it take the whole days to get to KL from Kuantan. Since only a few have cars getting around anywhere are by bus. It a bone shaker ride all the way. You take the 7am bus at the Kuantan Bus station along the Main road near the Rex cinema. It normally full and the window open wide unless when it rain when the window are up three quarter to a void folks getting wet. The air inside is as hot and humid as can be expected. The bus move on and when it reach at Tanah Putih near the Kuantan river it stop waiting to get on board the Ferry that ply from one side of the river to the other side and get on the road again. The bus move on at whatever speed it could. Then the bus conductor would go around from one passenger to another to check their ticket to see that no one get a free rides. The bus does not stop because of the communist terrorists lurking in ...
