The Garlic...

Well, I believed everyone knows what the Garlic is. In the Malay culture it is call the Bawang Putih although it is not a Bawang [Onion]. Anyway it is always associated with the other onions like the Yellow big onion, the Purple one which is call the Bombay onion and the Shallot which we call the Bawang Kecil [small onion]. In the Asian cuisines/cooking all the onions are important ingredients of cooking of whatever dishes, from frying Vegetable to making a good Curry. As for the Garlic as in the image above it one ingredient that we cannot do without. Dishes would not taste the same without it. It also got medicinal property and often used in the making of traditional medicine. It is said to be also a nutrition for the soul as well, thus it does made good medicine to healed the sick. It some western culture it is believe to ward off evil spirits. So in whatever culture the Garlic indeed do have a special place in our lives. As for me the Ikan Singgang is not the same without the Garlic and I always enjoy eating the Garlic cook in the Singgang. Well folks life would never be the same without this wonderful herb that we call Bawang Putih or the Garlic.

Have a nice day.

Yes, it's true, garlic makes a difference to a dish. I like singgang - one of the simple, yet very satisfying dishes. Will try to learn to make it. Salam Ramadan.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made there by two of

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun makes it
