Of Bird Merbau and Buah Nona...

Merbau and Buah Nona

I always feed the birds and small animals around my house. Every morning I would prepare some cut apple, banana and bread in containers and placed it at the Small Garden in front of the house and another set hanging on the branch of the Nona fruit trees at the backyard garden. Buah Nona is Custard apple in the English language. [read my past posting on the Buah Nona here] The family love eating this fruits. We also share it with the birds and other small animal that come visiting the fruit trees. I had planted it from seedling and it has grown and bear fruits all the years round. The other day while at the kitchen my spouse told me  to look at the window in the kitchen and there I say the bird that we call Merbah pecking and eating at the fruits. I then went to take my camera the Canon EOS M5 with the 200mm lens and took many snaps of the birds enjoying the fruits. I also did a video on the happening which I filmed from inside of the kitchen as not to disturb it. It turned out to be a good video. So I am sharing it here for everyone to enjoy, much as I had enjoyed videoing it..

Have a nice day.

Ikan Singgang....

Ikan Singgang is  one traditional Malay dish that is simple to do. Yet it is not only delicious but nutritious as well. Its one dish that you can find in the Malay world, perhaps call by other names, nevertheless it is still Ikan Singgang. It is the creation of our ancestors where fish have always been their main protein source; sort of the wisdom of the old. A wise creation indeed and because of it we still kept enjoying it  I have always love Ikan Singgang especially when Ikan Aya [Tuna fish] is use but it always taste as good even with other fish like Tenggiri or Kerisi. When making this simple dish one herb/spice that is a must is Lengkuas [Galangal] for without it the Singgang is not complete. The above image of Ikan Singgang is made with Ikan Tenggiri. Delicious as usual. Taken with steamy white rice and Budu [Anchovies sauce] or Sambal Belacan [Shrimp sauce] it is heaven already.  I posted that image on Facebook and below are two informative comments made th...

The Sunrise at Teluk Cempedak...

We were in Kuantan for a short holiday. As usual I always take the time to watch the sunrise at Teluk Cempedak; a beach that I call my own. I grew up playing on that sandy beach from the age of seven years old and I felt in love with the sea. So going to that beach is a ritual that I never missed to do whenever I am in Kuantan.  Early that Saturday morning of September 3, 2016 I woke early and with my nephew driving we left for the beach at around 6.30am. According to the data I had the sun would rise at Teluk Cempedak at 7.01am that morning. When we arrived at the beach there were already others there waiting for the sun to rise. I had brought my latest camera the Canon EOS M10 with me. It is a Mirrorless camera, the new new generation of the DSLR. It is much smaller than the DSLR and have interchangeable lens. As soon as I got there I walk along the beach and enjoy the freshness of the morning air. Yonder at the horizon I could see some light as the the sun make...
