Food cook using the Microwave Oven...

I believe all of us love to enjoy our food. When we see the foods it is our eyes that taste it first follow by our nose. Only then that we taste it by our mouth. If the food we are eating taste good in our mouth we wound continue to eat it and enjoy it. Above is a bowl of freshly steamed fish that is done using the microwave oven. From our experience it is much easier to steam fish in the microwave oven than the conventional way using the steamer. There are lots of work when one use the steamer; from boiling the water to create the steam using multilayer steamer pots require lots of works. It is much simpler to use the Microwave oven. When using the microwave oven one just had to use a container that is microwave safe. Put the fish in the container with whatever garnishing in it and cling-wrapped it tight. Then put it in the microwave oven and cook it for between 6 to 8 minutes [depend on the type of Microwave oven you are using]. The fish above was done in our microwave ov...

Tapai Pulut; the wonder Dessert...

This is homemade Tapai Pulut. Pulut is Glutinous rice.  In making Tapai the Ragi [Yeast is very important] The Javanese are the expert in making Ragi. So where there are Javanese especially in Batu Pahat you may get the best Ragi. Tapai is a complete Vegetarian dessert introduce by the Javanese. Some folks takes it with Ice cream. The tradition of making a good Tapai is that it should be made in total secrecy and that the one who is making it must be clean both physically and spiritually. We did not know that Asmah my spouse make it until she placed it on the table for us to enjoy. I am told later that she was teaching our eldest granddaughter to make it. It sort of passing on the tradition of making a good Tapai. Folks to digress a little; You go home to your mom's home and she only fry Ikan Kembong [fish] and some vegetables for you. It turn out to be a great lunch in an atmosphere of love. You go back home and did the same thing; fry Ikan Kembong and the same vege...

Of Fig Planting in Malaysia...

I have always love to eat cake or biscuits that contain figs and never thought that fig tree could be planted in this country. Of course we have the local fig trees but it just grow wild and most of the time folks in this country never use it for food. But recently when I join a closed group on Facebook that call Malaysia Gardeners I notice that many friends talk and exchange ideas and information on Fig and growing it in their garden. Some kept exchanging variates and give it among friends. On one posting in the group a friend post a box of cutting that he got from a friend from another part of the country and that he has indeed start planting the plants with some success. I post a comment on the posting and jokingly say that I would love to have some cutting. He reply on my personal message that he could send me some if I give him my address. Without much ado I let him have my address and today, this morning I received a small package from the postman.  Delighted with the c...

Of Gardening...

I love gardening. Every morning without fail I would be in my Little Garden in front of my patio. To fill the Bird/Squirrel Feeder with foods and feed the fish in the small pond. Then I would weed the pots and at time change the water in the fountain. Clean the whole garden and then water all the plants. It a ritual that I love to do and am enjoying it. At time I would spend hours there and sometime got lost of times  as well. It is so refreshing to see all the greens in a lush condition and the flower blooming well. It does made my day.  Have a nice day folks.

Of Dinning...

We are in the golden years and enjoying it. At this age what better things to do than to continue to enjoy life as we move on. Among other things we would go for fine dine from time. To me eating and fine dine are two different things. Eating is just when you are hungry and it could be done anywhere. As long as one is no longer hungry it considered done. It about filling your stomach and nothing else. But in fine dine it a different story altogether. One go for fine dine to enjoy the time more than the food. It about a complete enjoyment of space, time, the ambiance, the company, the service and of course the food. It not about the cost which in most case cost more to eat the same thing in a Fine Dine restaurant than in a Food Court or at a roadside stall. It about a total enjoyment and that is why I would be happy to pay more for the same food in a fine dine restaurant. It a way of pampering ourselves and enjoying every minutes of it.  Let me share my e...
